IPL 2017 auction to be held on February 20

The 2017 Indian Premier League auction will be held on February 20 in Bengaluru, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement on Friday (February 3). More than 750 players will go under the hammer at the Ritz-Carlton hotel ahead of the tenth season of the marquee T20 league.
More than 750 players have registered for the auction.
BCCI also announced that there would be a day long IPL Franchise workshop on the following day after the auction. With each team allowed to field 27 players in their squad (including nine overseas), a maximum of 76 players (including 28 overseas) can be bought at the auction to fill up the quota.
Kings XI Punjab hold the largest purse (INR 23.35 Crs) followed by Delhi Daredevils (INR 23.1 Crs) whereas Mumbai Indians have the least (INR 11.55 Crs) to spend. BCCI had already released the list of retained players on December 19, 2016. The tournament will begin on April 5 with the final slated to be held on May 21.
